20th Century Vintage at Vintage Emporium

Our little Vintage Emporium POPUP Shop opened for business on the 3rd October in the bustling hub of Maylands at 216 Whatley Crescent.

We’ve been really well received in the neighbourhood and have had lots of new people discovering the store and have met many of the old regulars who used to shop at Ivy Forado when it was there.

Check out some of my latest retro and vintage finds that you’ll be able to check out in store.

Now that I’m in a bricks and mortar store you’ll be seeing a few more small furniture items as well.

Hope can you drop in soon and maybe find yourself a treasure or two and while you’re in the neighbourhood there’s lots of great foodies place to choose from for coffee and cake or lunch.

20th Century Vintage POPPING UP in Maylands

Over the last week or so we’ve been busy setting up the next instalment of Vintage Emporium and this time around the retailers in store will be 20th Century Vintage and Tumbleweed on Third.

The new store opens Wednesday 3rd October 2012 at 10am, that’s today, and you can find us on the bustling little cafe strip at 216 Whatley Crescent in Maylands just up from the corner of 9th Avenue.

It definitely needed a bit of work, but after a bit of paint, time and effort we’re really pleased with how well the shop looks.

Check out the before and after shots. It’ll give you a bit of an idea about how a bit of paint has transformed it.

Before

After

For all the locals in the area I’m sure you’d recognise this old building as it housed a great secondhand shop called Ivy Forado for over 13 years.

I’ve got lots of new old finds ready for our opening today, including  a great range of retro, mid century modern and vintage collectables, interiors, kitchenalia, ceramics glassware, accessories etc. etc… So I hope you can drop in and say hi and maybe find yourself a treasure or two.

Benefits of Leaving The Office

A day at home normally involves doing work on my husband’s business, and this week especially, I felt like I’d been stuck in the office for way too long.

So with a yearning for a bit of sunshine and a need to get some excersice I took off for a bit of a walk in the neighbourhood. Well that just happened to involve a trip to the local op shop and it didn’t disappoint. Check out some of the latest finds.

Some great retro glasses

Glomesh Purse

Coffee Set by British Anchor, Impact Range – Staffordshire, England.  The set includes a coffee pot, 6 cups and saucers, a milk jug and sugar bowl. All of the pieces are in fantastic condition and look like they’ve never been used. The colour is just amazing.

Coffee Set by Poole, England. This set includes a coffee pot, 5 cups and saucers, a sugar bowl and a milk jug. This is in fantastic condition and looks unused as well.

The last 2 pictures of the clear icey textured “Hopla” glasses are probably the pick of the finds, as I do have a bit of a soft spot for most pieces designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala.
