I’ve always had a passion for Mid Century pieces as well as Italian Modern. I realise now, it went back to my childhood.
My Dad was always at auctions, so when I was a teenager I ended up with some great pieces. I didn’t know much about them at the time but I knew I loved their design. There were 2 pieces that were a stand out for me. One was my study chair, which was a chrome folding Plia Chair by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli. The other was my study light which was an eyeball touch lamp by Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce.
And so it all began…..
Once I purchased a house I started collecting pieces along the way. It was mostly glass and second hand furniture some of which I still have today. Things evolved and I started trading as 20th Century Vintage in 2010. Back then I mostly dealt in collectables, glass, ceramics and other home décor pieces from the Mid Century & Retro era with a leaning towards Danish and Scandinavian Design. I was mostly selling online and at Collectable Fairs around Perth.
Then in 2012, when I became a featured seller in a vintage store, I added Mid Century, Retro and Vintage Furniture into the mix and I haven’t looked back.
At the end of June 2022 it was time to change my business model to accommodate a slower pace, so here we are now in our online store (always with the opportunity to view any pieces by appointment). There are further developments to come so watch this space…..
